Nellie L. Rogers
Nellie Louise Rogers, 93, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday January 18, 2012 at 11:20 am in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She retired from the Vigo County School Corporation as an Administrative Assistant for the Music Department. Nellie was born September 25, 1918 in Vigo County to Frank Bandy and Lulu (Price) Bandy. She is survived by a son: Jack M. Rogers of Lexington, KY; a daughter-in-law: Coleen Rogers of Terre Haute; grandchildren: Sheena Birt and her husband Ezra and Krystal Rogers; a brother-in-law: Ray Rogers of Decatur, IN; special friends: Margie Hagan of Terre Haute and Helen Allen of Florida, and her beloved cat: Callie. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her Husband Glenn Rogers died in November 1991, a son: Rodney Rogers, a sister: Francis Harris and a brother: Warren Bandy. She was a long-time member of Terre Haute First Baptist Church, was a 1937 graduate of Glenn High School and a graduate of Brown’s Business College. She sang with the Zeta Chapter of Triad and also the Vigo County Extension Choir and the Sanctuary Choir at First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and was an avid reader who loved to travel and loved music. Visitation will be Friday January 20, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave with funeral services on Saturday January 21, 2012 at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Reverend Bernie Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. If friends so desire, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Terre Haute First Baptist Church, 4701 E. Poplar, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
